Your medical history is of great importance to us. It will help us determine whether antibiotics will be necessary for dental visits. People with certain heart ailments and certain implants for joints or fractured bones may need antibiotics to protect those joints or heart valves during a dental visit. Not taking your antibiotics, if necessary, can cause failure of the implants or the heart valve and can lead to having to replace that implant. In the case of heart patients, it can lead to a very serious infection which can lead to hospitalization and even death. Your medical history will also dictate which medications we can safely use during your dental visits. It is important for us to obtain as thorough a medical history as possible, therefore presenting a few minutes earlier for your first appointment would allow you the time to fill out the medical questionnaire. |
