Dry mouth is more than a drag.

Does your mouth feel like the Sahara? Older adults, in particular, often have a dry mouth that results from reduced saliva flow. The decrease in saliva flow is caused by certain medical disorders and often is a side effect of antihistamines, decongestants, pain killers and diuretics. Problems associated with dry mouth include a sore throat, difficulty swallowing, hoarseness, dry nasal passages, and bad breath. Left untreated, dry mouth can damage your teeth and lead to cavities. Your dentist can recommend various methods or treatments to restore moisture.
