Oral squamous cell carcinoma is the most common form of oral cancer. The risk factors to note are tobacco use, alcohol consumption, poor diet, and lifestyle behaviors which may include more than one of the aforementioned. Early detection is the single most important route to improving the long term outcome of oral cancer. The current management for oral cancer can include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. Regular dental checkups can help in the early diagnosis of oral cancer. It is important to have routine oral examinations at least twice a year. |
